Wired Flutes Studio

François Minaux, DMA in Musical Arts (UT-Austin 2011) teaches private flute lessons in Mueller located in East-Central Austin, Texas. Lessons are held in a large professional recording studio on the 2nd floor of a private residence.

Lessons are typically held weekly. A typical flute lesson includes the practice of the fundamental of tone production (posture, breathing, air column, embouchure,  articulation), finger technique, posture, intonation, music theory, free and guided improvisation, composition and the performance of classical and contemporary classical repertoire.

Wired Flutes specialises in using the benefits from its professional recording equipment to provide its students with direct recording feedback in addition to traditional verbal instruction during the lesson.

Rather than performing live at a solo recital, Wired Flutes students record their performance in the studio. A CD of all pieces completed is then provided at the end of the year.

In contrast with band practice in public school where I also currently teach, private lessons focus solely on each student profil, skills, achievement, schedule.

It is highly recommended to take individual instrument lesson in addition to playing in a group.

François Minaux was born in Paris, France and started learning the flute at age 9. As a young flutist, he took six month of private flute lesson before entering the Paul Ducas Municipal Conservatory in Paris. He desire to study with international soloist and conductor Ransom Wilson, brought him to the USA. He graduated with a Master of Music in flute performance from the Yale School of Music in 2006 and with a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011.

Since then, François Minaux is the owner and operator of Wired Flutes, a music studio dedicated to teaching flute lessons and providing professional studio recording to its students in East Austin. In addition to teaching flutists in schools in the Austin area school districts, Dr. Minaux is a chamber music coach at the Austin Chamber Music Center in Austin.

In addition to being Principal flutist of the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio, François Minaux specializes in performing and recording free improvisation classical contemporary music in projects based on world events, modern psychology and socio-political issues. He and his partner Laura Brackney are founder of Leaf Chimes, a free improvisation project based in Austin created in 2016.

François Minaux can be heard in “Daniel Carr: Works Volume 2 – Flute and Piano” released by MSR Classics-Discover label. The album is available on Amazon.com
